Anquan Boldin appears to be the biggest winner in the Lee Evans trade. Following in a long line of second banana WR’s that didn’t quite meet expectations when they were thrust into the spotlight, Boldin had a relatively disappointing season last year. And who can blame him. In Arizona, Larry Fitzgerald drew more attention than Carrie Fisher at a Star Wars convention. With the departures of Todd Heap and Derrick Mason, Boldin looked like he might have a lame duck season. While Evans’ numbers have fallen off a bit, he is still young enough to have some gas in the tank and to at least make teams think twice about lining the entire secondary up on Boldin. While Boldin would still seem a bit unlikely to return to his Cardinals form (Joe Flacco is no Kurt Warner…. and Evans is clearly not Fitzgerald), the Evans deal should help keep him at a serviceable level for a #2 fantasy WR.
