In news of the bizarre, an owner in one of my leagues just dropped Peyton Manning and picked up Chad Henne in the same transaction. Take a moment to let the full gravity of that move sink in to your brain. 2 months ago it would have been unimaginable. Mr. Ironman himself, never missing a game in his professional career. One of the top 10 QB’s to have ever play the game if he retired today. Contrast that with Henne. Henne’s career has been a perfect audition for the role of Mr. Irrelevant. He is a marginal pocket passer that has done little to distinguish himself in his entire career. His team’s fan base was begging for him to be replaced by Kyle Orton… whose own fans want him replaced by Tim Tebow, yeah…. Tim Tebow.
Now, a few weeks later, the mighty has fallen and Henne erupted… even putting up respectable rushing numbers. Manning’s value appears to be toast this year and Henne’s got a shot in the arm (though I’m still not a Henne fan.) Only time will tell if the Henne pickup makes sense, but who would have thought that this would ever appear to be a rational transaction??
Much appreciated for the information and share!
