Marcedes Lewis appears to be fighting a relatively minor injury, but is being dropped in droves in fantasy leagues. Last season, Lewis was a red zone monster, hauling in 10 TD’s (tied for tops among TE’s). He was fourth overall in TE fantasy points in standard scoring leagues. He is also a former first rounder, so he certainly has the talent to be a long-term force.
He is injured, but it appears to be nothing more than a mild calf strain. He may even play this week, but impatient fantasy owners have been giving him the boot. In Yahoo! public leagues, he is now un-owned in 29% of public leagues, barely beating out Dustin Keller and Greg Olsen. He obviously is playing for a different QB, but new QB’s tend to need the safety valve TE’s can provide. If you have the ability to ride out a questionable week with Lewis on your bench, you could end up with a top 5 or 6 TE for the low, low price of nothing.
