The young season’s latest unexpected monster game comes from Denarius Moore. While Moore benefitted from a game that was a shootout, he is definitely worth a look if you have any marginal WR’s on the bottom of your bench. Moore put up 5 catches, 146 yds, and a TD. The TD was a spectacular 50-yard strike in the closing minutes of the game. Moore also very nearly pulled in another TD, a toss-up/prayer, at the end of the game.
While Moore had a disappointing week last week, he showed considerable promise in training camp and quickly caught the eye of Jason Campbell. He was unofficially timed at 4.37 in the Forty at the scouting combine. Unfortunately, one of the biggest knocks on him in college was his inconsistency, exploding in some games and disappearing in others. If the first two games of his career are any indication, he might suffer from the same issue in the NFL. Inconsistency is a horrible fantasy trait, but the season is still young.
All-in-all if you need WR help, Moore is worth a chance. He appears to have the hands, the speed, and is quickly developing the trust of his quarterback. Going forward, I probably would only start him against poor pass defenses for now and monitor his progress over the coming weeks.
