Victor Cruz came out of nowhere to have a hot game this week. However, its likely that it was just a hot game and not a sign of a trend. Cruz had 2 TD’s for 110 Yds. However, he only had 3 Rec.’s during the entire game, while playing as the Giants second WR. 74 of those yards and one of those TD’s resulted more from a missed tackle than from a stellar play by Cruz.
Once Mario Manningham returns (likely soon), Cruz will be demoted back to a third string role in the Giants offense. The Giants offense is solid, but not likely solid enough to merit carrying its third WR. Accordingly, I’d keep an eye on Cruz, but leave him in the free agent pool for now.
